Sorrento Capo – Punta del Capo
The villa of Head of Sorrento, known as the Regina's Giovanna baths, It’s a kind of natural swimming pool, reachable by sea through a natural arch, a Roman ex- nymphaeum; ; it’s so called because queen Giovanna Durazzo D’Angiò here often came to bath. Near it, there’s some remains of an old Roman villa, attributed to the historian Pollio Felice and thanks to the news furnished by Stazio, we think that it’s dates back to the I century a. C.
The villa was attainable both from earth and from sea, in fact the productive activities of the villa were tied up is to the sea that furnished fishes, shellfishes and molluscs; both to the country producing olio, limoni the appreciated wine of Sorrento quoted in numerous works of Strabone, Plinio and Orazio.
The excursion start from Sorrento Capo, the last point of Sorrento city, and from there you could easily find a little path that in 15 minutes will lead to the most beautiful landscape of Sorrento.
The thing that make this place special, is the fusion between the history and the nature.
The Roman villa in climbed on the rocks offer a panoramic seaview and a very particular coastline. There you can practice acquatic sport like diving (there is so much to explore) and kayak, or only take a bath.
Near the ruins of Regina Giovanna, after a little path on the left you could find a little bar/restaurant for your lunch. There the coast continue up to Marina di puolo.
